World
Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. It is an event organized by
United Nations to raise awareness about the environment. Through this campaign,
GT aims to plant one billion trees worldwide by 2020. In 2010, Bikrant and his
team started reforestation and planting initiatives to restore the biodiversity
of the environment. The call of the pandemic raised the world's awareness of
the importance of protecting the environment.
During the wave of coronavirus, the majority of the people were stuck in their homes with
their smartphones. Today's generation is glued to their phones 24/7 where they
spend their time surfing the internet and social media. They get all the latest
news with just a click and unlike the past centuries, they have no trouble
keeping up with the latest developments in the environment and the world. With
this privilege, it is much more convenient to spread awareness about
environmental issues. It is not new to have Global Warming, but with the
helpful information available to people online, people have become more
accepting and committed to finding ways to take action against it.
With the
current advocacy of United Nations ecosystem restoration, it will be much
easier for the campaign since almost everyone can have access to their action
plan. However, ecosystem restoration cannot be achieved overnight. If only a
small part of the world joins this campaign, it will not be enough to achieve
the goal. Every person from every part of the world should participate to
complete this task. We should unite, billions of people should join this campaign.
It takes one to start a goal, but it takes a whole population to achieve it.
