Sacrifice, Necessity to Serendipity

After almost 9 months of blog writing and the start of classes, it is now the final reflection for the 4th quarter of the 2020-2021 school year. Over the course of the school year, there have been numerous struggles that I am sure not only I have experienced, but other students as well. Since we have been using a new system for learning this school year, things do not always go as planned.      There were many times when submissions of outputs were delayed due to the prolonging of lockdowns in Vigan City and other parts of the province. This made it impossible for parents and guardians to go to school and submit our outputs. And when it was finally time to submit the answer sheets, sometimes our outputs were not forwarded to the subject adviser even though we had already submitted them. This is just one of the struggles I experienced. Another is meeting deadlines. In the last modules of this quarter, LAS, which were issued to us, was compiling. Modules...

Reforestation is The New Trend

World Environment Day, Wikipedia, Retrieved from https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FWorld_Environment_Day&psig      World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. It is an event organized by United Nations to raise awareness about the environment. Through this campaign, GT aims to plant one billion trees worldwide by 2020. In 2010, Bikrant and his team started reforestation and planting initiatives to restore the biodiversity of the environment. The call of the pandemic raised the world's awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.      During the wave of coronavirus, the majority of the people were stuck in their homes with their smartphones. Today's generation is glued to their phones 24/7 where they spend their time surfing the internet and social media. They get all the latest news with just a click and unlike the past centuries, they have no trouble keeping up with...

War to Independence

Philippine Independence Day, National Today, Retrieved from https:// nationaltoday.com/philippines-independence-day/      During the Spanish-American War, Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the independence of the Philippines. However, after the United States annexed the country, Aguinaldo lost his hopes for independence. Aguinaldo and his men fled the country in 1897. In exchange for their freedom, they agreed to exile in Hong Kong.      The Philippines, a large archipelago of islands off Southeast Asia, had been under Spanish rule in the 16th century. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the country's resistance to the Spanish began to brew. In 1892, a revolutionary society called Katipunan was formed in Manila. With the government of the Philippines at the time, in which Aguinaldo was the president, the agreement with the United States to liberate the country once they exile in Hong Kong did not go as smoothly as one would think. One war after anot...

The Community that Helps Each Other, Rise Together

The rapid and wide-spread spread of community pantries during the COVID -19 quarantine is widely accepted as the beginning of the movement. Anna Patricia Non, a local entrepreneur, started the project on April 14, 2021, and through her initiative, she was able to create a food bank for her community. However, some of the community pantries were stopped by the government because they were not supported by the government. The organizers of the food pantries were then labeled as communist insurgents.      By this time, the number of cases of COVID -19 had reached nearly one million. The number of deaths caused by the virus had also jumped earlier that year. The government had promised to provide $475 million in aid to the victims of the pandemic. However, only a fraction of that amount has been distributed. The prolonged lockdowns in the Philippines in 2020 led to the closure of many businesses and the loss of 4.2 million jobs. According to the Bureau o...

To the Most Precious Woman in My World

Mother, Mom, Mommy, Mama, Nanay. Whatever you call the most precious woman in the world, she's the one you're thinking of. From what I have heard from various mothers, being a mother to her child or children is the most difficult yet fulfilling job a woman can ever have. Mothers carry their child for nine months. Amidst the pain and struggle of carrying a child inside of them, they never gave up, which is why we are all here today.      Childhood is the hardest part of taking care of your child, my mother says, because children don't have minds of their own yet and are unaware of the things they do, whether it's something good or something bad. Mothers sacrifice a lot for their family, their children. They sacrifice their freedom to take care of and provide for a newborn baby. And so we celebrate Mother's Day. Every second Sunday in May, we honor our mothers for their sacrifices and the love they have shown us throughout our lives. It's the da...

History from A Beautiful Miracle

Every history has its own story behind it. If you go back to how the Binatbatan Festival began, you will not only believe in humanity again, but also in God. Back in December 1882, 30 years after a chapel was built in Vigan Cemetery in 1852, a devastating epidemic suddenly broke out, claiming the innocent lives of people in the community.      The death of 932 residents during the months of November and December of 1882 was the beginning. The shocking and devastating number of deceased residents due to the epidemic alarmed not only the residents but also other natives and mestizos or residents with Spanish blood, so they asked a favor from the then pastor, Dr. Evaristo Abaya, and asked to visit the Santo Cristo Milagro of Sinait. The people conducted a nine-day novena to the Santo Milagroso and the number of deaths slowly decreased and fortunately stopped on the last day. They praised God for the miraculous miracle and the majority of the reside...

Empower Women, Empower Humanity

Women Empowerment and Economic Growth, Saddam Hussein, Expert Legal, Retrieved from https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=http%3A%2F%2Fexpertlegalreview.com%2Fwomen-empowerment-economic-growth% Among the myriad of laws currently in force are the Human Rights and the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act. These laws are enforced to protect the rights of mothers, their children, and anyone who falls under them. In ancient times, women had no right to any of their spouse's property. They are only expected to stay in their respective homes, run the household and take care of the child. Women are not able to realize their full potential to rise in their lives and dream big. Instead of being free in their society, they become slaves to their society because they are denied even the right to vote and are not given access to it. But there is a woman who is fed up with this business and has thought of leading a movement aimed at rebelling and revolting against the na...
